About Otoño Silva, MD

Otoño Silva, MD, founder of Interventional Orthopedics of Washington in Bellevue, Washington, is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and fellowship-trained in Interventional Orthopedics which is a new specialty with a focus on non-surgical regenerative injection therapies, including image-guided prolotherapy, PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem Cell Therapy for orthopedic or musculoskeletal applications.

Dr. Silva is one of the most uniquely trained and experienced musculoskeletal and interventional orthopedic medicine practitioners in the Pacific Northwest, and he has a passion for continued education, teaching, research, and developing a partnership with his patients to work towards their optimal health with an integrative approach. Dr. Silva was inspired to pursue medical school after he received a personal regenerative medicine injection treatment many years ago to avoid a recommended surgery, and astonishingly he never saw the problem return.

Dr. Silva is a true believer in the power of the advanced non-surgical cellular medicine techniques he offers at his clinic, and he optimizes his own joint health following the same protocols he recommends to patients so that he may continue to enjoy participating in his favorite activities such as snowboarding and hiking for many years to come!

Before his formal medical training, Dr. Silva earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and worked as a licensed massage therapist. The skills he developed as a bodyworker have enhanced his hands-on physical exam skills as a physiatrist and interventional orthopedic specialist. In addition, this experience has taught and enabled him to incorporate a holistic approach for patient care into his practice.

As a part of this holistic approach, he utilizes ultrasound imaging for diagnostic purposes and therapeutic and regenerative therapies for short-term and long-term pain relief for patients. He also believes in optimizing the patient’s overall health for their best long-term outcome, and regularly makes recommendations for rehabilitative chiropractic care, physical therapy, nutritional planning and hormone balance as needed to comprehensively address their health and well-being.

At Interventional Orthopedics of Washington, Dr. Silva creates a balance between a natural approach and traditional medicine. Rather than mask your symptoms with pain medication and steroid injections that will contribute to degeneration of your joints and tissues, his goal is to diagnose the underlying causes of your pain. This allows him to develop a plan to address the source of your pain and assist in healing and restoration of a healthy, potentially pain free, active lifestyle. He achieves this by utilizing science-backed, groundbreaking cellular medicine therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell treatments that harness and bolster your body’s own healing abilities.

Dr. Silva continues to expand his skills and knowledge by conducting research in the field of interventional orthopedics to advance the field. He also instructs courses for the Interventional Orthopedics Foundation (IOF) around the country to share his advanced knowledge and pass these skills on to other physicians. Dr. Silva hosted and instructed the first-ever IOF course outside of the organization’s HQ in Colorado at his Bellevue clinic in September 2019.

He and his team welcome you to Interventional Orthopedics of Washington to develop and implement a plan to reduce your pain, restore your function, and recover the quality of life that you deserve.
